At Paris Fashion Week, it’s the biggest problem. When bombs are going off in Europe, what’s the point of exclusive fashion collections that smell like perfume? There isn’t any. But Paris’s fashion group has tried to deal with this tricky issue by sending AP a statement of solidarity with Ukraine.

Ralph Toledano, President of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, said that as “the greater fashion family gathers for Paris Fashion Week, war has brutally hit Europe and thrown the Ukrainian people into fear and upheaval.”

He suggested that the show go on because “creation is based on the idea of freedom, no matter what.” And fashion has always helped people and groups in our societies become more free and express themselves.

The federation said that you should “experience the shows of the next few days with solemnity and in thought of these dark times.”
